Kaimes has been lucky to receive funding from Young Start for a 2 year programme of animation film production, based on the stories of people who have migrated to live in Edinburgh from different parts of the world. Last session, classes produced 5 short films as follows:
Jessie’s Story – the story of Mrs Newton who has migrated to Edinburgh from Achiltibuie in Wester Ross
Misao’s Story – the story of Misao who has migrated to Edinburgh from Osaka in Japan
Lyver’s Story – the story of Lyver which has migrated to Edinburgh from Havana, Cuba
Asma’s Story – the story of Asma, whose father migrated to Edinburgh from Pakistan
Zbigniew’s Story – the story of Zbigniew, who migrated to Edinburgh from Poland
We are working with animators from Red Kite Animation, and with Conrad from Hoda productions. Classes this session are working on films about people from Chile, Kurdistan and Dugai, together with a larger project asking the question Who Are the Scots? – and examining where peoples have migrated from over historical time. The whole series of films will be integrated into a larger resource later in the year, and we anticipate that it will be well received by the funding agency and by others.
Here are some photographs from work in progress over the 2013 – 14 session:
