Welcome to Kaimes School.

Friday 24 April

It’s Friday and by the looks of things the sun is coming out to keep us company again today across the south of Edinburgh.

Before the holidays we provided a range of support and guidance through various updates on the website and through our Home Learning Hub. Now that we all have a better idea of what ‘learning at home’ means, we thought you would find it useful to use the documents below as we work to keep structure and routine. This routine looks different for us all but some basic tips to help are included. The two images below have the same messages in them but have been created to support our families best.

I hope you are able to come back to the website and see an important update on our Skills curriculum on Monday – this will include some really practical things that our learners can do at home that supports life long learning. This will be available from 9.30am.

Final reminder: If you have questions for Headteachers Question Time, these need to be sent by 1.00pm today. I will send a text reminder that you can reply to for your convenience.

Have a lovely weekend

Wednesday 22 April

Thank you for all the questions that have already started to come in for the Headteacher’s question time taking place next Wednesday. All questions should be emailed to the admin account or replied through text message no later than 1.00pm this Friday. (admin@kaimes.edin.sch.uk). My responses will come through a video update as part of my update on Wednesday 29 April by 9.30am.

Allocated Key Adults will be in contact with families, through learner email accounts, over the coming days as we roll out this additional service to all of our learners. These are members of Kaimes School staff that will have worked with or are known by your child and are there as a support to them during this period of school closure.

Could I remind all those making requests for transport for next academic session (after the Summer holidays) that these requests must be with transport colleagues digitally by 30 April. Please visit our Transport page for forms and more information.

Plus I bumped into a former class room assistant from kaimes, his name’s Joe Marshall and he told he liked working at kaimes plus he’s a support worker now which’s a good thing cos it shows he’s dedicated to helping people with additional needs and for those of you staff that have work at school for so many years will know who I’m referring to:)
